“My partner and I at long last found a run down cottage in the Catskills we could afford and fix up. We had a vision of that best of both worlds city apartment/country cottage lifestyle. I was planning to move out of my Bushwick studio, move a half into my home studio and a half to the cottage. When the pandemic was announced, we were upstate working on the cottage. We rented a truck, packed and moved everything in one day up to the cottage. We then began a completely different life than what we'd envisioned, living in a very small mountain village for the foreseeable future. This painting is one of a series of three that I started in my Bushwick studio and finished in Hancock, called the migration series.”
