“Since the Pandemic began, I’ve been relegated to my apartment in a rural part of New Jersey with no neighbors. Luckily, I have the company of my son who is home from college taking online courses. For me, I think that life after the Pandemic will be simpler. I will consume less and probably cook at home more. Social events will become more meaningful and I’ll have a new appreciation for my friendships and my family.
This painting deals with the theme of isolation. The man and woman are in a social setting but have no interaction with one another. The woman looks away; the man stares straight-ahead, indifferently. The Pandemic has forced us into a similar state of isolation and the future will be similar to the painting. In social settings we will feel awkward interacting with other people until it becomes familiar again.”
