Jimena López Miquelarena
Hoboken, New Jersey
Jimena López Miquelarena was born in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1975. She grew up in that same city. Currently, Jimena lives in Hoboken, New Jersey, making geometric abstract art out of her studio.
In 2003 and 2004, Jimena visited the U.S. and attended “Mixed Media and Assemblage” workshops at The Art Students League of New York, where she developed skills in mixed media art.
In 2006 Jimena graduated from the Facultad de Bellas Artes (UNLP, Argentina) with a double major—a five year degree of Professor along with Licentiate in Fine Arts with a concentration in painting. Continuing her studies, in 2009 Jimena participated in analysis of works of art taught by Argentine artist Luis Felipe Noé and in 2012 she took part in a workshop given by Argentine abstract artist Tulio de Sagastizabal on the same topic. From her studies Jimena broadened her appreciation for abstract art with a clear aim of focusing on abstract forms in her own work.
In recent years, Jimena has participated in various group and solo exhibitions. In 2017, she took painting classes with renown abstract painter Prof. Frank o'Cain, at The Art Students League of New York. That same year her paintings exhibited at Barsky Gallery in Hoboken, NJ. In 2019, she participated in the “3 Year Anniversary Exhibition” at Urban Studio Unbound in Yonkers, NY, and in the “Group Salon Show” at Greenpoint Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.
Currently, Jimena works in her studio in Hoboken, surrounded by canvases, panels, fluid acrylics and pastels, that she incorporates into her art.
