Liz Ndoye in her new solo show “Life Sentence” at Ceres Gallery, NYC
Hoboken artist Liz Ndoye is inspired by many things. She draws upon her experience of seeing and collecting art and fabric from cultures that she has visited all over the world. American artists like the great Hawkins Bolden and Thorton Dial have influenced her work. Finally her own childhood dolls and toys have been her muses in her creative process for many years.
The combination of these inspirations have given her a passion for creating a “society” of dolls or creatures. These creatures have their own cultural universals — language, religion, tools and technology, family structure, politics and government, etc.
The pieces on display will cover the aesthetic values of the Doll Culture. Liz will show mixed media works including reverse glass painting and works on paper and fabric.
Life Sentence runs March 5 – March 30, 2019 at Ceres Gallery, 547 W 27th St., Suite 201, New York, NY. Opening reception is March 7, 6pm-8pm.
